You ramble. It writes.

Talk the way you actually think — half-formed, self-correcting, full of ums. LocalFlow hands back the sentence you meant.

LocalFlow typed

Fillers gone · self-corrections applied · punctuation, capitalization & tone handled.

The loop

Hold. Speak. Release.

No window to open. No button to find. It lives in your menu bar and works in every app you already use.

  1. 01

    Hold a key

Press and hold Fn — or your own shortcut. A quiet pill appears and never steals focus.

  2. 02

    Speak your mind

Talk naturally, at the speed of thought. Your words stream in live as you go.

  3. 03

    Release

Let go. In about a second, clean, finished text lands right where your cursor was.

Built to keep up with you

Everything, without leaving your keyboard.

Writing, not transcription

Fillers removed, false starts dropped, punctuation sorted — so it reads like you wrote it.

Self-corrections

Say "no wait, I meant…" and it keeps only what you meant. It follows your train of thought.

Works in every app

Mail, Slack, Notes, VS Code, browser, terminal. Anywhere there's a cursor, there's LocalFlow.

Edit by voice

Select text, hold a key, and say "make this more concise." The selection is rewritten in place.

Per-app tone

Casual in Slack, formal in Mail. Set a default voice and override it wherever it matters.

Your own dictionary

Teach it your names and jargon. "eng standup" becomes "Engineering Standup," every time.

Hands-free mode

Double-tap to start, tap to finish — for the long thoughts you don't want to hold a key through.

25 languages

On-device speech models with automatic language detection. Switch whenever you like.

Searchable history

Every dictation saved locally and searchable, with one-click copy. Or turn it off entirely.

Private by construction

Your voice never leaves your Mac.

Audio is captured, transcribed, and cleaned entirely on your device, then discarded from memory. No account. No telemetry. No cloud.

The only network connection LocalFlow ever makes is a one-time model download. Watch it with Little Snitch — after that, silence.

  • On-device speech-to-text on the Neural Engine
  • On-device AI cleanup (Apple Intelligence or local Ollama)
  • History stored only on your Mac — or not at all
  • Two permissions, ever: Microphone & Accessibility
Get started

Up and running in minutes.

  1. Download LocalFlow.dmg from Releases, open it, and drag LocalFlow into Applications.
  2. First launch: right-click → Open (it's an unsigned build for now).
  3. Grant Microphone & Accessibility when onboarding asks — the only two permissions.
  4. Dictate immediately while the speech model downloads once in the background.
